A gentle but firm request, and then some reasoning so it doesn't feel like a decree.

Over the last fortnight several beginner threads in First Signals and Janus Mudra Practice have picked up replies describing full Second Sky work — remote-viewing scripts, staged breath-and-dark protocols, and in two cases dosing notes for DMT and psilocybin as a way to "open the Counterplane faster." Those posts have been moved here or removed.

To be very clear about what this is and isn't:

  • Second Sky is not banned as taboo. We don't pretend it doesn't exist, and we don't shame anyone drawn to it.
  • It is contained. Altered-state and substance protocols do not belong in rooms where people had their first sitting three days ago.
  • A beginner reading "just take 20mg and the lower plane opens" has no grounding, no aftercare context, and no way to tell a careful practice from a risky one.

If you want to discuss what Second Sky claims and where we think the edges are, that is exactly what this room is for. Discuss it. Don't deploy it in the shallow end.

Backing this fully. I moved the two dosing posts myself. Nothing personal to the people who wrote them — the concern is the reader who's anxious, new, and looking for a shortcut. Bilateral signalling, then Janus Mudra, then opposed palm resonance. That order exists for a reason. You don't hand someone a psychedelic protocol before they can sit for ten minutes without checking the clock.

Honest question, not a provocation: if some of us find the Second Sky material the most interesting thing on the whole board, isn't quarantining it just making it more alluring? I'm not defending dosing notes in First Signals. But the fascination is real and pretending it away hasn't worked either.

I feel the pull too, so I'll say the uncomfortable part. The reason it's alluring is partly that it promises to skip the slow work. Remote viewing, "seeing" across to the Counterplane — it sounds like arriving instead of practising. That's exactly why it belongs in a room with railings, not in a thread where someone's still learning where their hands go.

I left a Second Sky circle last year and I want to add a data point from the inside. The remote-viewing sessions were compelling in the room and impossible to verify out of it. Nobody could tell me how we'd know if a "viewing" was wrong. That's the part that made me leave — not fear, just the lack of any way to check. I'm glad this stays discussed rather than buried, because people should hear that too.

Edit: sorry, reading that back it sounds more certain than I meant it.

I'll be the mainstream-uncomfortable voice. Every time a substance protocol shows up I feel the whole board tilt toward something I didn't sign up for. I came for a quiet hand practice and grounding. I don't want to be gatekept out of my own hobby because the loudest material is also the riskiest.

Thank you, RowanInward — that discomfort is legitimate and it's part of why the boundary exists. And thank you, Anika, for saying the quiet thing out loud. Both of you belong here exactly as much as the people who find Second Sky fascinating. The line isn't curiosity is bad. The line is: no live protocol runs in a room without aftercare, and beginner rooms have none.

Can we at least keep a plain-language explainer here of what Second Sky is, so newcomers don't have to piece it together from removed posts? Not a how-to. Just "here is the faction, here is why we're wary, here is why we're not simply deleting it."

49 earlier replies collapsed by moderator summary. Selected posts shown from Jun 02–Jun 18. The thread drew a large amount of good-faith back-and-forth about fascination, risk, and where the boundary sits. Older discussion archived after grounding review.

Reading the whole thread back, I think the mods actually held a hard line very gently. I came in wanting to defend the interesting stuff and I leave agreeing it needs railings. The fascination and the unease are the same feeling, honestly. That's worth sitting with rather than resolving in a rush. lol

For what it's worth, I withdraw the "quarantining makes it alluring" framing. Anika's point about not being able to check a viewing landed harder than any rule could. I'd rather this room stayed careful. Thanks for not shouting anyone down.

Locking this one now — not because it went wrong, but because it went right and there's nothing left to litigate. A summary of where we landed, so it can be linked instead of re-argued:

  • Second Sky stays discussed, not deployed. This room watches the faction and talks about it honestly. It does not host live remote-viewing, altered-state, or substance protocols.
  • Beginner rooms are protocol-free. First Signals, Janus Mudra Practice and Opposed Palm Resonance are for the slow ordinary work. Posts running Second Sky material there will keep being moved here.
  • Curiosity is welcome; verification is required. If you're drawn to it, say so. If you make a claim, be able to say how you'd know you were wrong.
  • Grounding first, always. Do not practise while distressed. If any of this leaves you shaky, the Quiet Room is open.

Thank you all — especially those who changed their minds in public. That's the practice too. The mirror holds. The mind remembers.
